In 1946, a man by the name Dr Hotz started Sothys with the development of a patented system that encapsulated the active ingredients of a cosmetic formulation in a glass vile in order to stabilise its effectiveness. He wanted to create a regenerative, stabilised serum that would help heel the depilating burns that left thousands in post war Europe with the burden of severe physical scarring.
The result of his breakthrough was so revolutionary and profound for these victims that he was inspired to continue to develop products that would help people with these devastating reminders from the war. We now know his creation today as the ‘Ampoule’ and it is this that saw the inception of Sothys.
The key difference with Sothys is that the products are formulated in such a way that the molecular structure of the main active ingredients is not compromised by other actives within the formulation.
This means that the actives are allowed to work unobstructed and completely stabilised so that there full potential is realised for the user.
Many products claim high levels of actives in their products, however the reality is that if the active ingredients are not ‘stabilised’ then the effectiveness of the ingredients in the product is essentially rendered useless. Similarly if a number of ingredients are combined into one formulation that are not cohesive it may render the product ineffective. It can therefore be said that formulation is just as important if not more so than the actual ingredients or percentage of actives themselves.
Sothys products and treatments are carefully formulated to ensure that the actives are delivered in a stabilised and effective way.
Some of the more recent Sothys innovations include ‘Microsponge® technology, a unique platform that allows key active ingredients to diffuse into the skin continually without the ingredients efficiency becoming compromised due to exposure to air or changes in the PH balance of the skin.
The latest development direction for Sothys is the advent of Neuro-cosmetics which is the interaction of the active ingredients of products with the skin and the nervous system. (Neuromediators), an exciting future direction
All product and treatment development is carried out by SOREDEC (Society of Research and Development of Cosmetics). The team of 20 is lead by Head Chemist Dr. Claude Richard who boosts an enviable list of credentials to his name in the field of cosmetic and treatment development and has represented Sothys as the Head of R&D for over 20 years now. SOREDEC was established by Sothys to create a high tech R&D house to ensure that Sothys continued to develop and innovate cosmetic breakthroughs for their Institutes globally.
Dr Richard and SOREDEC have been so successful with their product and treatment formulation that SOREDEC are regularly commissioned by competing Cosmetic companies to formulate for them.
Sothys products and treatments are formulated with stabilised vitamins, proteins and natural plant and marine derivative extracts as the basis of their formulations. Every product is dermatologically tested, they are all Hypoallergenic and are not tested on animals.
